Ryanair set to resume talks with striking UK pilots

Ryanair Holdings PLC said it will meet with members of the British Airline Pilots Association after the union canceled five scheduled strike days to give way to negotiations.

The low-cost airline said in a statement that it has invited union representatives to resume talks at its East Midlands hub or at its headquarters in Dublin. Pilot strikes were scheduled for Sept. 21, 23, 25, 27 and 29.

BALPA, for its part, said it is ready to negotiate with Ryanair under the auspices of the U.K. Advisory, Conciliation and Arbitration Service, adding that it will declare new strike dates if necessary.

Ryanair was hit by strikes twice in August, while a three-day pilot walkout marked the beginning of September for the company. The airline and its U.K. pilots have disagreed over pensions, benefits and pay harmonization.
