Sempra Energy inks 2 contracts for output of Mexican solar project

Sempra Energy signed contracts for the output of a 150-MW solar project in Mexico with subsidiaries of Comercializadora Círculo CCK SA de CV, Mexico's franchisee of the Circle K convenience stores, and El Puerto de Liverpool SAV de CV, operator of the Liverpool department store chain.

Under the separate 15-year contracts, Sempra subsidiary Infraestructura Energetica Nova SAB de CV, or IEnova, will supply power from its solar facility under construction in Juárez, Mexico, south of El Paso, Texas.

The project represents an investment of $160 million and is expected to be placed in operation in the second half of 2020, Sempra said in a Sept. 26 news release.

As of the end of 2018, IEnova has invested more than $8.8 billion in operating assets and projects under construction in Mexico. The company has more than 1,000 MW of solar and wind resources either under construction or in operation.
