MFA Financial files mixed shelf, signs distribution agreement

MFA Financial Inc. has filed an automatic shelf registration statement for the potential sale of an unspecified amount of various securities from time to time.

The filing covers common stock, preferred stock, depositary shares, warrants, debt securities, rights and units. The company intends to add the net proceeds from sales of securities to its general corporate funds, which it may use for general working capital purposes and for working capital.

MFA Financial also entered into a distribution agreement with J.P. Morgan Securities LLC, Barclays Capital Inc., BofA Securities Inc., Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC, Nomura Securities International Inc. and RBC Capital Markets LLC, as sales agents.

Through those sales agents, the company may offer and sell up to $400 million of its common shares in at-the-market offerings from time to time.
