YUM! Brands Inc.-owned fast-food chain KFC will introduce plant-based nuggets and boneless wings in partnership with Beyond Meat Inc., according to an Aug. 26 release.
KFC's Beyond Fried Chicken products will be available for a limited time at the Cobb Parkway location in Atlanta beginning Aug. 27.
The company will plan broader tests and evaluate a potential national rollout based on customer feedback from the trial at this Atlanta branch.
The restaurant chain is the latest quick-service restaurant to introduce or test plant-based menu options for vegan diners. In July, Dunkin' Brands Group Inc. and Beyond Meat debuted a plant-based breakfast sandwich at select Dunkin' restaurants in Manhattan, N.Y. Restaurant Brands International Inc.'s Burger King and Impossible Foods Inc. have also recently rolled out the Impossible Whopper burger at all Burger King locations across the U.S.
Meanwhile, Doctor's Associates Inc., which operates Subway restaurants, also rolled out a limited trial of a vegan meatball marinara with Beyond Meat earlier this month.
