Roku Inc.'s free TV and movie streaming service, The Roku Channel, is adding premium subscriptions.
The Roku Channel will soon offer users the option to add more than 25 premium subscriptions from providers, including Showtime (US), Starz (US) and EPIX (US), according to a Jan. 2 news release. Users will be able to discover new services from Premium Subscriptions partners, browse their entire catalogs and then sign-up for at least a seven-day free trial using their existing Roku account information.
The company also plans to expand search on The Roku Channel to allow users to easily search for keywords within the channel.
Roku did not disclose details of its financial arrangements with the networks.
