South Korea's NongHyup Bank is in talks to set up a branch in Australia as it hopes to participate in infrastructure financing deals and offer other business financing services in the country, Business Korea reported Sept. 16.
The bank's CEO Lee Dae-hoon met with two senior trade and investment officials from Australia's Trade and Investment Commission on Sept. 10 to discuss the plan.
In addition, the lender is also planning to file an application with the Chinese government to convert its representative office there into a branch by the end of 2019.
