Lynas Corp. Ltd. said Sept. 6 that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with the city of Kalgoorlie-Boulder in Australia to conduct a review and due diligence of potential sites, namely Kalgoorlie and Mt Weld, for the company's new cracking and leaching plant in Western Australia.
The MOU provides a framework for support from the city in key areas relevant, which include land availability, water, gas, electricity, access roads, other infrastructure and workforce management, to ensure the success of the project.
The Kalgoorlie-Boulder city will actively assist Lynas in attracting a residential workforce for the plant's operation, as well as provide assistance to the company for the initial staffing of the plant.
The cracking and leaching plant, which was originally based in Malaysia, will be transferred to Australia as part of the company's 2025 growth plan.
