TPG hires Denham Capital director as principal

TPG Capital Management LP hired Steven Mandel from Denham Capital Management LP as a principal on its infrastructure team, a source with knowledge of the move said.

Mandel will focus on principal investments across the global energy, power and infrastructure sectors, according to his LinkedIn profile.

Mandel spent more than seven years at global energy and resources private equity firm Denham Capital. He sat on the board of directors of African renewable power developer BioTherm Energy (Pty.) Ltd.; Latin America-focused renewable power company Jenner Renewables SARL; and Themis Energy, an independent power generation company focused on Africa.

Prior to joining Denham Capital, Mandel was an analyst in Citigroup's global power investment banking group.

Mandel's hire at TPG follows that of Edward Beckley, who joined the firm in 2017. Beckley previously headed Macquarie's infrastructure and real assets business in Europe and now leads TPG's infrastructure team, the source said.

TPG declined to comment on the hire.
