John Wood Group PLC announced March 12 that it was granted a "multimillion dollar" construction contract from IR1 Group LLC for the Red Rock Biofuels facility in Lakeview, Ore.
The facility is expected to take about two years to build and, when complete, will convert 136,000 tons of waste woody biomass into 15.1 million gallons of renewable fuels per year.
Gasification, Fischer-Tropsch and hydroprocessing technologies will be incorporated into its design, which the company said will yield ASTM-approved fuels.
