HDFC Life Insurance's profit after tax climbs YOY in fiscal Q2

India's HDFC Life Insurance Co. Ltd. logged profit after tax and extraordinary items of 3.09 billion rupees for the fiscal second quarter, an increase from 2.87 billion rupees a year ago.

Net premium income grew year over year to 74.54 billion rupees from 67.78 billion rupees in the year-ago period, while net commissions climbed to 3.66 billion rupees from 2.64 billion rupees on a yearly basis.

The company recorded net income from investments of 11.35 billion rupees, compared with 10.90 billion rupees in the prior-year quarter.

As of Oct. 22, US$1 was equivalent to 70.82 Indian rupees.
