Sharp to build solar power plant in Vietnam

Japanese electronics maker Sharp Corp. signed an agreement with Gia Lai Electricity JSC, a joint venture of the Thanh Thanh Cong Group involved in the renewable energy business, to build a solar power plant in Vietnam.

The facility will be built in the province of Thua Thien Hue. It will have a power generation capacity of approximately 61,570 MWh annually, enough to supply 32,628 Vietnamese households in a year, according to a Feb. 26 news release.

Sharp plans to begin construction in February and expects the plant to start operating by September.
