Shiseido names new head of marketing for global prestige brands

Shiseido Co. Ltd. on March 26 appointed Katherine Melchior Ray as its new senior vice president and chief marketing officer for global prestige brands.

Ray's appointment comes shortly after the Japanese cosmetics-maker unveiled its plan to adopt a "prestige first" strategy that places a focus on its high-end brands including NARS and Clé de Peau Beauté.

Meanwhile, Shiseido CFO and Corporate Executive Officer Norio Tadakawa will be adding new responsibilities to his portfolio and will head the company's supply network strategy, production technology, supply and purchasing, global business support and Japan business support.

Both appointments will take effect April 1.
