Virginia's Union Bank & Trust appoints SVP; FHLB San Francisco names director

* R. Brad Martin is no longer a director of Memphis, Tenn.-based First Horizon National Corp. and subsidiary First Tennessee Bank NA.

His decision to retire was not due to any disagreement with management.

Martin is chairman of RBM Venture Co.

* Jeffrey Ball will fill an upcoming vacancy on Federal Home Loan Bank of San Francisco's board beginning Jan. 1, 2018. The term of this seat ends Dec. 31, 2020.

He will replace Richard Heldebrant, president and CEO of Sunnyvale, Calif.-based Star One CU. Heldebrant has announced his plans to resign from the board upon his previously announced retirement from Star One CU on Dec. 31.

Ball is president, CEO and director of Whittier, Calif.-based Friendly Hills Bank.

* Hamilton, Bermuda-based Bank of N.T. Butterfield & Son Ltd. appointed Pamela Thomas-Graham to its board as a nonexecutive director.

She is the founder and CEO of private digital media enterprise Dandelion Chandelier LLC.

* Richmond, Va.-based Union Bank & Trust appointed Andrew Hodge senior vice president and market executive for Southside Hampton Roads.

He was a senior vice president at PNC Bank NA.

Union Bank & Trust is a unit of Union Bankshares Corp.

* Northern Trust Corp. named Dan Madden head of ETF capital markets for FlexShares.

He most recently worked at Royal Bank of Canada, where he was a director and ETF trader, focused on international trading.

* Russell Bennett and J. Chad Jones were elected as directors of Baton Rouge, La.-based First National Bankers Bankshares Inc. and subsidiary First National Bankers Bank.

They succeeded L. Royce Cumbest of Pascagoula, Miss.-based Merchants & Marine Bank and Dennis Upchurch of Russellville, Ala.-based CB&S Bank Inc.

Bennett is president and CEO of Clarksdale, Miss.-based First National Bank of Clarksdale. Jones is president and CEO of Talladega, Ala.-based First Bank of Alabama.
