Ganfeng Lithium Co. Ltd. said it completed its US$160 million investment into Minera Exar SA, its joint venture with Lithium Americas Corp., on Aug. 17, according to an Aug. 19 statement.

The investment will increase Ganfeng Lithium's stake in Exar, which holds the Cauchari-Olaroz lithium brine project in Argentina, to 50% from 37.5%.

Proceeds raised would be used to evaluate previously announced plans to upgrade the capacity of the project to 40,000 tonnes per year from 25,000 t/y.
