China Vanke to engage Japanese hotelier for ski resort project

China Vanke Co. Ltd. will engage Japanese hotelier Prince Hotels Inc. to assist in the designing and developing of a ski resort in the city of Zhangjiakou in China's Hebei province, ahead of the country's hosting of the 2022 Winter Olympics, the Nikkei Asian Review reported.

Jilin Seibu Hotels & Resorts Consulting, a Prince Hotels unit, will act as a consultant to a subsidiary of the real estate developer that will undertake the development of the Han Hai Liang ski resort, according to the report.

China Vanke plans to open the resort around December 2019 and Prince Hotels will be involved during the first stage of the development, which will cover 1.31 million square meters of ski courses. The remuneration costs the developer will pay to Prince Hotels was undisclosed.

The whole development project, according to the March 20 report, will be constructed in three phases, with a 2037 planned completion projection. The resort will feature villas, theme parks and mountain sports academies, with the ski courses to span 4.32 million square meters.
