Lebanese Prime Minister Saad al-Hariri said he has suspended his resignation on the request of President Michel Aoun, easing a crisis that had caused tension throughout the Middle East, Reuters reported.
"I presented today my resignation to President Aoun and he urged me to wait before offering it and to hold onto it for more dialogue about its reasons and political background, and I showed responsiveness," Hariri reportedly said in a televised statement.
Hariri had said he was resigning during a Nov. 4 visit to Saudi Arabia and attacked Iran and its Lebanese ally Hezbollah.
After returning to Beirut on Nov. 21, he said he hoped for "a responsible dialogue" and urged all Lebanese parties to commit to keeping the nation away from regional conflicts, Reuters said.
