Volcan suspends Animón, Islay mines in Peru on 'safety concerns'

Volcan Compañía Minera SAA suspended mining at the Animón and Islay mines, part of its Chungar zinc-lead-silver operation in Peru, Metal Bulletin reported May 30, citing the company.

According to the report, the mine operations were halted due to "safety concerns."

The company's Chungar complex produces 96,000 tonnes of zinc and 20,000 tonnes of lead per year.
