BayWa r.e. GmbH said May 29 that it acquired the U.K. renewable business of Forsa Energy. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The deal grants BayWa access to a 350-MW pipeline of Scottish onshore wind farms. The pipeline has six wind farms totaling 200 MW with planning consent. Consent for the remaining 150 MW is expected by 2020.
The pipeline is an addition to the 823 MW of solar and 1,047 MW of wind power already under BayWa's management within the U.K. and Ireland.
"With this investment, we plan to continue to grow and invest in subsidy free markets by identifying good wind resource opportunities. This acquisition will allow us to undertake more greenfield development, helping us to further expand our presence in the UK and Irish market," said Gordon MacDougall, BayWa r.e. UK Ltd. Managing director.
Baywa r.e. is a subsidiary of BayWa AG. Forsa Energy is backed by private equity firm Riverstone Holdings LLC.
