UPM-Kymmene Oyj said its third-quarter normalized net income was 42 euro cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 49 cents per share.
EPS rose 7.5% year over year from 39 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was €223.1 million, a gain of 6.3% from €210.0 million in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin rose to 8.9% from 8.6% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue grew on an annual basis to €2.49 billion from €2.44 billion, and total operating expenses rose on an annual basis to €2.11 billion from €2.08 billion.
Reported net income grew 6.7% on an annual basis to €286.0 million, or 54 cents per share, from €268.0 million, or 50 cents per share.
