Report: Carlyle considers bid for German lighting technology company Osram

Private equity giant Carlyle Group LP is the latest buyout firm interested in acquiring German lighting technology group Osram Licht AG, the Financial Times reported, citing two people familiar with the matter.

One of the people noted that Carlyle was in the early stage of evaluating a bid for the German business, which is a spinoff of Siemens Aktiengesellschaft. Carlyle may not proceed with a solid offer, the unnamed sources told the publication.

It was reported in November that Bain Capital LP and other private investment firms were looking to take over Osram.

Carlyle did not comment on the matter.
