IRadimed's MRI-compatible blood pressure monitoring system gets FDA nod

IRadimed Corp. said the U.S. Food and Drug Administration has cleared a blood pressure monitoring system for use with the company's patient vital signs monitoring system that is compatible with magnetic resonance imaging.

Invasive blood pressure monitoring is used in intensive care units and operating rooms to directly measure blood pressure by inserting a needle in a suitable artery. It allows for beat-by-beat monitoring of a patient's vital signs.

Winter Springs, Fla.-based IRadimed said the 3883 MRI-compatible invasive blood pressure module can be used with its related patient vital signs monitoring system, which was cleared by the U.S. regulator in 2017. The system consists of nonmagnetic components that enable safe and accurate monitoring of a patient's vital signs during MRI procedures.

The medical device maker said the blood pressure monitoring system can also be used while transporting patients within the hospital.
