Maruti Suzuki India Ltd. said its sales rose 26.0% to a total of 172,512 units in May, up from 136,962 units in the same month last year.
Domestic sales drove the India-based automaker's total sales, with a total of 163,200 units sold, up 24.9% from 130,676 units. Export sales stood at 9,312 units, up 48.1% from 6,286 units.
Maruti Suzuki in April reported profit after tax of 18.82 billion Indian rupees in the fourth fiscal quarter, driven by strong sales volume and revenues.
As of May 31, US$1 was equivalent to 67.45 Indian rupees.
