Chinese internet giant Baidu Inc. and telecom operator China Mobile Ltd. have agreed to cooperate in areas such as artificial intelligence, big data and 5G.
The partnership includes collaboration with regards to network traffic, channels and basic services, and the companies will work to apply AI by utilizing Baidu's algorithms and technologies for image and voice recognition, as well as processing natural language in telecoms.
The agreement also covers a further push in autonomous driving and the commercial use of AI in connected homes and smart devices, according to a June 14 company statement.
Robin Li, Baidu's co-founder, said "the combination of AI and telecommunications has huge room for innovation and will create more new experiences for users."
