People Co. Ltd. fiscal Q4 profit climbs 17.9% YOY

People Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal fourth quarter ended Jan. 20 came to ¥26.29 per share, an increase of 18.0% from ¥22.29 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥115.0 million, a gain of 17.9% from ¥97.5 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin climbed to 9.8% from 9.7% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue rose 17.1% on an annual basis to ¥1.18 billion from ¥1.01 billion, and total operating expenses grew 12.9% from the prior-year period to ¥1.00 billion from ¥889.0 million.

Reported net income rose 31.8% on an annual basis to ¥112.0 million, or ¥25.60 per share, from ¥85.0 million, or ¥19.43 per share.

For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled ¥47.01 per share, a gain of 67.0% from ¥28.14 per share in the prior year.

Normalized net income was ¥205.6 million, a rise of 67.0% from ¥123.1 million in the prior year.

Full-year total revenue rose 8.2% from the prior-year period to ¥3.53 billion from ¥3.26 billion, and total operating expenses grew on an annual basis to ¥3.21 billion from ¥3.13 billion.

The company said reported net income rose 66.1% year over year to ¥201.0 million, or ¥45.95 per share, in the full year, from ¥121.0 million, or ¥27.66 per share.
