Japan revises down drop in January industrial production

Japan's seasonally adjusted industrial production index fell 6.8% month over month to 99.3 in January, lower than the preliminary estimate of a 6.6% decline, data from the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry showed.

On an annual basis, the original index rose at a revised 2.5% to 95.4, compared to the preliminary 2.7% increase.

Shipments and inventories decreased by 5.7% and 0.5% month over month in January, respectively, while the inventory ratio climbed 3.3%.
