Report: Greenpeace protesters crash Total shareholder meeting

French oil giant Total SA will continue with its oil drilling plans in the Amazon, officials said June 1, after about 250 Greenpeace activists descended on the company's annual shareholders meeting in Paris in protest.

According to a report from Reuters, four Greenpeace activists dropped from ropes from the ceiling above the area where Total CEO Patrick Pouyanné was speaking. It was reported that at least 20 other protesters gained access to the facility, with some chaining themselves to fixtures.

At the meeting, company shareholders passed various resolutions approving the payment of a dividend of €2.48 per share as well as Pouyanné's compensation package for 2017.
