U.K. regulator the Competition and Markets Authority officially launched an investigation into Google LLC's acquisition of analytics company Looker Data Sciences Inc. to establish whether the transaction could lessen competition in the market.

The regulator is accepting public comments in relation to the probe until Dec. 20 and set Feb. 13, 2020, as the deadline to announce a decision on the first phase of the investigation.
