Rakuten Ragri, the internet-based agriculture service owned by Japanese internet and tech company Rakuten Inc., has launched a prepared salad business that uses organic vegetables, according to a June 1 release.
The company set up a prepared salad factory in Ozu City, Ehime Prefecture, in Japan to carry out all stages of production, such as cultivating and processing vegetables, in one location.
Rakuten said that through the integrated production methods used by the factory, it has become possible to ensure a stable supply of organic produce and use vegetables that in the past may have been disposed of because they do not meet distribution standards for size and shape.
Ragri is also looking to increase the number of agricultural land hubs for growing organic vegetables and the number of factories, in cooperation with local governments and other groups, according to the release.
