Supermarket chain Monoprix is expanding its food delivery service with Amazon.com Inc. in France, following the success of their partnership in Paris, Jean-Charles Henri Naouri, chairman and CEO of parent Casino Guichard-Perrachon Société Anonyme, said during the company's fiscal 2018 earnings call.
"We're working on the deployment without any geographical limitation apart from that presence of Monoprix with Amazon," Naouri said in a call March 14, adding that the alliance with Amazon is now covering all of Paris, plus four neighboring cities.
Naouri also said the results from the partnership came in "much beyond the expected figures" and that Casino Group expects food e-commerce gross merchandise volumes to reach €1 billion by 2021 from €300 million in 2018, thanks to collaborations with Amazon and Ocado Group plc.
In September 2018, Monoprix partnered with Amazon to provide two-hour delivery to the retail giant's Prime Now subscribers in northern Paris.
The news comes after Casino Group raised its asset disposal plan to €2.5 billion, after executing the previous €1.5 billion sale of noncore assets, announced in June 2018. The previous plan also included the sale of 67 Monoprix real estate assets for a total consideration of €742 million.
