Williams-Sonoma, Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Aug. 3 amounted to 56 cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 53 cents per share.
EPS increased 12.6% year over year from 49 cents.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $53.3 million, a gain of 9.1% from $48.9 million in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin increased to 5.1% from 5.0% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue grew 5.8% on an annual basis to $1.04 billion from $982.2 million, and total operating expenses climbed 5.5% year over year to $953.8 million from $904.1 million.
Reported net income grew year over year to $50.8 million, or 53 cents per share, from $48.5 million, or 49 cents per share.
