Rowan to provide jack-up rig for ConocoPhillips' Norway project

Houston-based offshore driller Rowan Cos. PLC said Jan. 10 it will provide ConocoPhillips Skandinavia AS with access to its Roman Norway jack-up rig for an undisclosed sum.

The N-Class ultra-harsh environment jack-up rig will be used for seven months in Norway, starting in the second quarter of 2019, after it completes its contract with Turkish Petroleum in the Mediterranean Sea in late April.

After the initial contract expires, the ConocoPhillips unit will then have the option to use the rig for an additional five months or nine months.

Earlier this month, Rowan disclosed that Royal Dutch Shell PLC extended the contract for its Rowan Gorilla VI jack-up rig for a project offshore Trinidad.
