Mineral Commodities renews mining rights at Tormin ilmenite project

The Department of Mineral Resources and Energy of South Africa will issue two mining right renewals, to Mineral Commodities Ltd., allowing the company to continue its existing mining operations at Tormin ilmenite project in Western Cape for 10 more years.

The two mining rights are WC 30/1/2/2/10107MR and WC 30/1/2/2/10108MR.

The company's operations at Tormin were permitted to continue while the renewal application was processed.

In August, the company said it won a grant to develop a commercial-scale graphite purification process to potentially be used at Japanese energy giant Iwatani Corp. subsidiary Doral Fused Materials Pty Ltd.'s West Australian plant.
