Great Eastern, Axiata Digital Capital sign insurtech partnership

Great Eastern Holdings Ltd. signed a strategic partnership with Axiata Digital Capital to provide insurance and Islamic insurance, or takaful, products across Malaysia and Indonesia.

The services are targeted toward consumers, micro entrepreneurs and medium-sized enterprises and will be offered on Axiata's Aspirasi digital financing platform and its partner platforms. Premiums or contributions start at 1.50 Malaysian ringgit and 5,000 Indonesian rupiah.

The insurance and takaful products are underwritten by Great Eastern Life Assurance (Malaysia) Bhd., Great Eastern General Insurance (Malaysia) Bhd. and Great Eastern Takaful Bhd. in Malaysia, and by PT Great Eastern General Insurance Indonesia and PT. Great Eastern Life Indonesia in Indonesia.

As of Dec. 12, US$1 was equivalent to 4.16 Malaysian ringgit and 13,992 Indonesian rupiah.
