Yamaha unit acquires Ampeg brand from Loud Audio

Yamaha Corp. said May 11 that its newly formed U.S. subsidiary, Yamaha Guitar Group Inc., acquired the Ampeg brand from U.S. professional audio and musical instrument producer Loud Audio LLC.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

Ampeg manufactures bass amplifiers, cabinets and effect pedals. The Japanese musical instruments maker said the acquisition will allow it to enter the specialized bassist products market.

Following the transaction, Yamaha said it will combine its Yamaha and Line 6 brands with Ampeg to develop new products and implement fast-moving market activities in the U.S.

Washington-based Loud Audio is owned by Transom Capital Group LLC, which acquired the company from Loud Technologies Inc. in 2017.
