FirstEnergy Ohio utilities to launch auction for standard service products

FirstEnergy Corp. will initiate an auction process for its Ohio utilities' procurement of full requirements service for their standard service offer customers.

The company is seeking products with a 12-month contract for the delivery period of June 2020 through May 2021, and a 24-month contract for the delivery period June 2020 through May 2022.

According to an Aug. 1 news release, an auction will be held on Oct. 7, and will use a descending-price clock auction format. The bidding is the ninth auction of a series being conducted in accordance with FirstEnergy Ohio utilities' Electric Security Plan (ESP-IV), as approved by the Public Utilities Commission of Ohio. CRA International Inc. will conduct the auction.

Interested bidders may access www.firstenergycbp.com for details on how to join the information session on Aug. 7. The first part of the application will be accepted starting Aug. 14 and due by Aug. 28. The second part of the application will be from Sept. 4, through Sept. 18.
