SPower signs 22-year power contract for planned solar project in California

SPower on June 7 announced it signed a 22-year power purchase agreement for its San Pablo Raceway solar project with California community choice aggregator CleanPowerSF.

The contract is sPower's fourth with a community choice aggregator in California, according to a news release.

SPower will supply power from its 100-MW solar facility, which will be part of the company's 600-MW solar portfolio in the Antelope Valley. The Lancaster, Calif., facility is expected to begin commercial operation in 2019.

CleanPoweSF is a not-for-profit program managed by the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission that supplies renewable energy to customers in San Francisco city and county.

SPower, or FTP Power LLC, is owned by AES Corp. and Alberta Investment Management Corp.
