Severe weather conditions in northern Queensland prompted Red River Resources Ltd. to place its Thalanga zinc mine in the Australian state on standby, according to a March 1 release.
Access roads to the site have been temporarily limited, affecting the company's efforts to safely move its operational staff. A skeleton crew will remain on the site during the standby period.
Red River noted that weather conditions and the associated grid power outages over the past two months have resulted in lower than expected underground ore production and reduced concentrate output at Thalanga.
The company expects to restart full site operations early next week.
