U.S. real estate-focused exchange-traded funds logged $221.9 million of net inflows in August, marking the third consecutive month of positive fund flows.
JP Morgan Asset Management's JPMorgan BetaBuilders MSCI U.S. REIT ETF recorded the most inflows during the month, at $193.7 million, followed by SSGA Funds Management Inc.'s Real Estate Select Sector SPDR Fund with $141.9 million of net inflows.
Vanguard Group Inc.'s Vanguard Real Estate ETF — the largest U.S. real-estate focused ETF by assets under management — logged $213.6 million of net outflows in August, the most of any ETF in the group. BlackRock Inc.'s iShares U.S. Real Estate ETF recorded $111.7 million of net outflows during the month.
All of the U.S. real-estate focused ETFs outperformed the S&P 500's negative 2.7% total return in the recent month.
Pacer Financial Inc.'s Pacer Benchmark Data & Infrastructure Real Estate SCTR ETF — a fund primarily focused on real estate investment trusts that own data centers and cell towers — generated the largest one-month total return, at 10.1%.
