E-commerce company Meituan Dianping could revive its power bank rental business, news site TechNode reported Aug. 27, citing Chinese media LatePost.
The move reportedly signals a shift in the online-to-offline app operator's strategy as it seeks to apply a more conservative approach to new ventures due to financial pressures. The company will have to take on power bank rental market leaders, such as Ankerbox and Xiaodian, if it pushes through with the plan, the report said.
Meituan Dianping initially launched a power bank rental pilot in August 2017 but scrapped the program over "unsatisfactory" testing results, according to the report.
