U.S. real estate exchange-traded funds saw $1.11 billion of net outflows in January 2018, bringing total assets under management to $48.72 billion.
BlackRock Inc.'s iShares Core U.S. REIT ETF logged the greatest net inflow during the month, at $90.1 million, while Vanguard Group Inc.'s Vanguard REIT ETF saw the largest net outflow, at $759.6 million.
U.S. real estate ETFs fell short of the S&P 500 index on both a monthly and yearly basis. All U.S. real estate ETFs with above $100 million in assets under management posted negative one-month total returns in January.
SSgA Funds Management Inc.'s Real Estate Select Sector SPDR Fund had the greatest one-year total return, at 8.71%.
