West African Resources granted mining permit for Sanbrado gold project

The Burkina Faso government approved West African Resources Ltd.'s mining permit application for its Sanbrado gold project, formerly known as Tanlouka, in the country.

The company in December 2016 secured the environmental permit for the site from Burkina Faso's Ministry of the Environment, Green Economy and Climate Change, the final hurdle required ahead of its application for a mining license.

A feasibility study for the project is on track for delivery in the first quarter, while construction is expected to begin late in the year following completion of project financing, according to a Jan. 19 release.
