Nature's Sunshine Products Q1 profit falls YOY

Nature's Sunshine Products Inc. said its first-quarter normalized net income came to 13 cents per share, a decline of 21.2% from 17 cents per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $2.6 million, a decrease of 21.5% from $3.3 million in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin dropped to 3.1% from 3.9% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue declined on an annual basis to $82.4 million from $83.9 million, and total operating expenses rose from the prior-year period to $80.3 million from $78.5 million.

Reported net income decreased 52.3% from the prior-year period to $2.1 million, or 11 cents per share, from $4.4 million, or 23 cents per share.
