S&P Global Market Intelligence presents a rundown of executive changes in the U.S. technology, media and telecommunications industries.
* ViacomCBS named several executives to fill leadership roles effective upon the closing of the deal to combine Viacom Inc. and CBS Corp. Julia Phelps will take a position as executive vice president, chief communications and corporate marketing officer. In the role, Phelps will oversee the combined company's corporate communications, corporate marketing, corporate responsibility, special events and internal creative teams. Phelps has served Viacom as executive vice president, communications, culture and marketing since April 2017. Phelps will report to Bob Bakish, who will lead the newly merged company as president and CEO.
Anthony DiClemente was named executive vice president of investor relations of the new ViacomCBS entity. In this role, DiClemente will coordinate and oversee outreach strategies to the investment community and will be involved in refining the combined company's corporate strategy. He will report to CBS Executive Vice President and CFO Christina Spade, who will be CFO at the combined company. DiClemente joined CBS in June as executive vice president of investor relations.
* Internap Corp.'s board extended CEO Peter Aquino's employment agreement through Sept. 19, 2020. Aquino's employment contract, which has been extended as part of his new Evergreen agreement, was scheduled to expire Sept. 19, 2019.
Additionally, the company tapped Michael Sicoli as president and CFO of the company, effective Oct. 1. Sicoli will lead all finance and accounting functions, corporate development, investor relations, information technology and real estate at Internap. Sicoli most recently was CFO of GTT Communications Inc., a publicly traded provider of cloud networking services to multinational clients.
* John Donovan will retire as CEO of AT&T Communications, effective Oct. 1. Donovan joined AT&T Inc. in 2008 as chief technology officer and was named CEO of AT&T Communications in July 2017. AT&T said it will name a replacement for Donovan soon.
* QUALCOMM Inc.'s interim CFO David Wise retired, effective Aug. 23. The company named Akash Palkhiwala, senior vice president of finance, to replace Wise until a permanent replacement is named. Wise was appointed interim CFO in April after Qualcomm's then-finance chief George Davis joined Intel Corp. for the same post.
* HP Inc. President and CEO Dion Weisler will step down in the coming months over a family health matter. Weisler, who has led HP since 2015, will be replaced by Enrique Lores, the president of HP's imaging, printing and solutions business, effective Nov. 1. Weisler will still be with HP through January 2020 to ensure a smooth transition and stay on its board of directors until the next annual stockholders meeting.
* Joie Chitwood III resigned as executive vice president and COO of International Speedway Corp., effective Nov. 30. In an Aug. 22 statement, Chitwood said it was time to "find a new challenge" ahead of the closing of the company's takeover deal by National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing, or NASCAR Holdings Inc.
* Comcast Spotlight LP appointed Melanie Hamilton vice president of national sales. In her new role, Hamilton will head the company's national sales strategy across both holding companies and independent agencies and will lead Comcast Spotlight's national sales team. Hamilton will join the company in September from Google LLC, where she most recently was telecom head of industry. Comcast Spotlight is the advertising sales division of Comcast Corp.'s Comcast Cable Communications LLC.
