SoCalGas names COO, president

Southern California Gas Co. on Jan. 7 named Jimmie Cho as the company's COO and Maryam Brown as the company's president.

They will replace former SoCalGas President and COO Bret Lane, who was promoted as CEO of the company in December 2018.

Cho's appointment is effective Jan. 12, while the effective date of Brown's appointment will be determined at a future date.

Cho is currently senior vice president of customer services for SoCalGas and senior vice president of distribution operations for SoCalGas and San Diego Gas & Electric Co., both subsidiaries of Sempra Energy. He has been with Sempra Energy's utilities for 28 years and has held various leadership roles including senior vice president of gas transmission and distribution, vice president of gas transmission and distribution and vice president of human resources.

Brown is currently vice president of federal government affairs for Sempra. Prior to joining the company in 2016 as vice president of federal government affairs, Brown served as senior energy and environment counsel for the Office of the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. She also previously served as energy chief counsel for the U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce, and policy counsel for the U.S. Senate's Republican Policy Committee.
