Allergan PLC appointed Thomas Freyman to the board, effective June 14.

Freyman was executive vice president of finance and administration at Abbott Laboratories.

In addition, the Irish pharmaceutical giant said Patrick O'Sullivan will retire from the board in July. O'Sullivan has served on the board since 2013, when Allergan acquired Warner Chilcott PLC.

Allergan's board will continue to have 12 members after O'Sullivan's retirement and the addition of Freyman.
