Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. founder Jack Ma urged foreign companies to comply with Chinese regulations, dismissing concerns that the country's government fends off non-Chinese businesses, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing Ma's statement at the country's annual World Internet Conference.
Ma said businesses should adhere to the country's laws if they wish to succeed, singling out Microsoft Corp. and Coca-Cola as foreign companies that have succeeded in China.
Ma added that he spoke to Amazon.com Inc.'s Jeff Bezos about 10 years ago and advised him to "send people with an entrepreneurial spirit, not professional management," because of the difficulty of doing business in a foreign country.
