Jason Trembley, an investment banker who focuses on depository institutions, has joined Hovde Group LLC.

Head of Investment Banking Kirk Hovde said Trembley, who is based in Atlanta, started May 15 as a managing director. Trembley was previously with SunTrust Robinson Humphrey Inc. Earlier in his career he worked at Morgan Keegan & Co. LLC and Burke Capital Group LLC.

Hovde said Trembley has relationships with banks in the Southeast and Midwest and will add to the company's coverage in those regions. Hovde added that Trembley's hire was more opportunistic, as opposed to the company looking to fill a specific part of its coverage.

"We're continuing to look for people across the country that are the right cultural fit, have the right experience and we think would be good additions," he said.

Going forward, Hovde said the company would likely focus its depository investment banking hiring efforts on individuals who cover the Midwest and West.

Trembley has worked on M&A and capital-raising transactions in the past and will focus on both with Hovde. Some of Trembley's M&A assignments include advising Citizens National Bank on its sale to Simmons First National Corp. and Sequatchie Valley Bancshares Inc. on its acquisition of Franklin County UNITED Bancshares Inc.
