Power
* SPI Energy Co. Ltd. terminated Scott Sullivan from his positions as chief marketing officer and president of SPI U.S. region, effective Jan. 29.
* David Halligan, the CEO of Xinjiang Goldwind Science & Technology unit Goldwind Americas, will step down from his post to launch a new renewable energy venture focused on distributed and digital energy solutions. He will assist Goldwind in the transition, serving in an advisory capacity until his successor is hired.
* CPS Energy named John Steen the chair of its board of trustees and Homer Guevara Jr. the vice chair. Steen is a former Texas secretary of state and commissioner of the Texas Department of Public Safety and has represented the northeast quadrant of the company since 2016. Guevara represents the southwestern quadrant of the CPS Energy service territory.
* Vistra Energy Corp. said in a Jan. 29 SEC filing that Terry Nutt resigned as senior vice president, controller and principal accounting officer to accept a new career opportunity. The company's board named Christy Dobry the vice president, controller and principal accounting officer, effective Jan. 26.
* Hydro One Ltd. said Jan. 28 that it named Paul Dobson CFO, effective March 1.
Midstream/gas utility
* The board of Targa Resources Corp. appointed Matthew Meloy the president and Jennifer Kneale the CFO, effective March 1. Meloy had been CFO since December 2010. The company's board also appointed Patrick McDonie the president for gathering and processing, D. Scott Pryor the president for logistics and marketing, and Robert Muraro the chief commercial officer. Their appointments are also effective March 1.
* Catherine Krajicek, a vice president for Marathon Oil Corp., gave notice Jan. 30 of her plans to retire effective April 1.
* HWCG LLC named Craig Castille managing director, effective Jan. 1. He has served on the HWCG board since its inception and as chairman of the board and steering committee from 2015 to 2017.
Coal
* Blackhawk Mining LLC approved three new independent directors to its board of managers, effective immediately. The Kentucky-based coal producer said Jan. 29 that Matthew Ferko, Ronald Forster and Nils Larsen would join the four current members of the board.
* J. Scott Kreutzer was promoted to executive vice president and COO of Appalachia coal producer Contura Energy Inc. on Jan. 18, replacing Keith Hainer. Kreutzer, who has been Contura's senior vice president for land and environmental affairs since July 2016, previously held the role of senior vice president for land and gas at Alpha Natural Resources Inc.
* Bruce Nilles is stepping down as head of the Sierra Club's Beyond Coal campaign, effective March 30. On Feb. 1, Nilles is handing the leadership of the campaign over to Mary Anne Hitt, who has served as the director of the campaign for nine years, and will work with her to ensure a smooth transition.
