Amorepacific profit misses consensus by 42.8% in Q4

AMOREPACIFIC Group said its normalized net income for the fourth quarter amounted to 699.06 South Korean won per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 1,221.16 won per share.

EPS increased year over year from 123.79 won.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 40.36 billion won, a gain from 10.32 billion won in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin climbed to 2.7% from 0.9% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed 22.9% year over year to 1.458 trillion won from 1.186 trillion won, and total operating expenses rose 19.2% year over year to 1.297 trillion won from 1.087 trillion won.

Reported net income grew from the prior-year period to 20.92 billion won, or 358.83 won per share, from 20.30 billion won, or 243.42 won per share.

For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled 2,140.52 won per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate of 3,375.53 won.

EPS rose 30.3% from 1,643.03 won in the prior year.

Normalized net income was 164.62 billion won, a rise of 20.3% from 136.88 billion won in the prior year.

Full-year total revenue grew 20.1% year over year to 5.661 trillion won from 4.712 trillion won, and total operating expenses grew 17.1% on an annual basis to 4.748 trillion won from 4.053 trillion won.

The company said reported net income increased 8.1% on an annual basis to 240.42 billion won, or 3,126.00 won per share, in the full year, from 222.36 billion won, or 2,669.00 won per share.

As of March 10, US$1 was equivalent to 1,203.54 South Korean won.
