Visa Inc. has made a strategic investment in YellowPepper, a mobile payments company in Latin America, to accelerate innovation in digital payment technology, according to a news release. YellowPepper is based in Miami and operates in six Latin American countries with more than 6.6 million monthly active users executing 480 million transactions yearly.
Initial efforts of this investment will focus on growing opportunities for tokenized payments, increasing access to Visa's application programming interfaces and expanding the usage of push payments via Visa Direct.
The two companies partnered in 2017 to accelerate the adoption of new payment solutions in Latin America and the Caribbean.
